Posted @withrepost • @naturally_rana Aesthetic providers do you consent for Hyaluronidase (antidote) at the same time as your facial fillers? In the case of an emergency situation such as ischemia or blindness you are better prepared if your patient has consented for the use of hylauronudase at the same time they consent for facial fillers. Hyaluronidase is off label for the use of correcting problems with facial fillers although it’s use in the best interest of the patient is respected. Vascular compromise & blindness should be treated immediately. But It is possible to be allergic to hyaluronidase (antidote) with signs including oedema, erythema, & rarely anaphylaxis. Patients can undergo a skin patch test at least 20 minutes prior to the procedure. What would you do if a positive skin patch was observed & your patient was allergic to the antidote? Continue to save the skin and or sight or be more fearful of the allergic response of the antidote. These are things we all have to consider in our aesthetic first aid drills.
